Five Things You’re Doing on Your Website That’s Losing You Customers
My name is Laurie Swoboda. I own a Swoboda Marketing, and I’ve been doing this for over 15 years, so let me help you out.
Number one: Your website is slow.
Fifty-three percent of people are leaving your website if it does not load quickly. The biggest culprit is your images. So manually compress them or use a plugin like Imagify. Smaller files equal a faster website.
Number two: Your hero section sucks.
This is the most important part of your website. You need to let people know what you do, who you do it for, what problem you solve, and give them a clear next step. It needs to be so simple a caveman could do it.
Number three: There is too much friction on your contact form.
Whether it is a contact form or a quote form, you need to make it as simple as possible for people to fill out. Stop asking for their blood type. Stop asking for their in-laws’ last name. Make it easy so they can reach out to you and you can get the sale.
Number four: You do not have enough social proof.
We need Google reviews. We need testimonials. We need case studies. At the end of the day, people buy from people. So the more they trust you and your outcomes, the more likely they are to reach out.
Number five, and arguably the most important of all: Your website does not look professional.
The only analogy I have for this is if you walked into a shop with flickering lights, a leak coming out of the roof, and some strange brown substance all over the floor. You would think, “This place is a dump. I’m not going to shop here. I’m not going to buy from here.” It is the same thing with your website. It needs to look sleek. It needs to look modern. It needs to have a good, professional design. People are making these judgments in a fraction of a second, and that first visual impression is arguably one of the most important things.
Run through this checklist, send it to somebody who needs it, or call me and let me help.
